Call me stupid, or even ignorant. But to this untrained observer if your the PNP and looking for a stash of illict weapons, and the stash maybe located inside an Islamic Center – a center that was the scene of a recent jihadist shootout – your results may not be fruitful. As expected they found, nada.
Armed with arrest and search warrants, operatives of the Western Police District (WPD) raided the Islamic Center in Quiapo, Manila early yesterday as part of its campaign to rid the city of loose firearms.
At least 100 police operatives composed of the WPD’s District Intelligence and Investigation Division, the Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit, sekretas or plainclothes policemen, Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT), mobile patrol units and the Sta. Cruz police station, led by Superintendent Romulo Sapitula, swooped down on houses inside and around the Islamic Center for hidden firearms.
After almost an hour of search and verification, the raiding team neither caught a person with a criminal record nor recovered any loose firearm.
To add to the absurdity of being 4 days and all the guns late, with a few dozen uniformed officers running rampant in the area, why would you intermingle with them “sekretas or plainclothes policemen” and blow their cover for future operations?
And they call me stupid!
UPDATE: The “sekretas or plainclothes officers” should be utilized to watch their own.
Three Pasig City policemen, accused of robbing a money courier, were wounded yesterday in a shootout with their fellow officers from the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) that responded to a robbery alarm.
Senior Superintendent Raul Medina, Pasig City police chief, said SPO2 Rodolfo Molina and PO2 Lauro Hiyao sustained gunshot wounds in the body while PO1 Melvin Claveria was hit in the face and body.
The three, all assigned at the Pasig Police Community Precinct 19 in Barangay San Antonio, Pasig, were rushed to the Pasig City General Hospital for treatment. Medina said the three are accused of robbing Angelito Reyes, 46, an employee of the Tabitha Money Changer.
But I’m not that stupid, nor ignorant enough to believe these three are an isolated case.
