Well at least he tries to when he called into the Don Imus show.
”Of course I’m sorry about a botched joke. You think I love botched jokes?” Kerry said during an appearance Wednesday on Don Imus’ nationally syndicated radio program. ”I mean, you know, it’s pretty stupid.”
”I’m sorry that that’s happened,” he said of his earlier comment. ”But I’m not going to stand back from the reality here, which is, they’re trying to change the subject. It’s their campaign of smear and fear.”
Imus, never one to mince words, had a response to Kerry’s apology every [Dim]ocrat wishes would happen: Please Stop It. Stop Talking. Go Home. Get on the bike, go windsurfing, anything.
Botched jokes notwithstanding – and the Republicans love them , at least this one – notice no apology is given for implying the Commander-in-Chief is too stupid to lead the troops that Kerry now claims, apparently, are smarter than Mr. Nuance himself.
This half-hearted apology might actually mean something if it had come on Tuesday morning after his remarks of Monday evening were first known. Instead he arrogantly strode to a podium at a press conference he called, where he lashed out at Republicans (“despicable Republican attacks,” from “a stuffed suit White House mouthpiece,” and a “doughy Rush Limbaugh.”) for attempting to change the subject away from Iraq.
As Kerry Flails away with a non-apology that came just short of 48 hours too late, the [Dim]ocrats still have no plan for Iraq and John F’ing Kerry is still an ASSHOLE!
