And a self admitted dumb shit.

Well he didn’t use those words exactly he claims he was “duped” by Chief Justice John Roberts and Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito during their respective confirmation hearings.

Schumer, in a speech to the American Constitution Society, talked about the confirmation of Roberts and Alito in 2005 and 2006, respectively.

“Were we duped?” he asked.

“Were we too easily impressed by the charm of nominee Roberts and the erudition of nominee Alito?” Schumer asked. “Did we mistakenly vote our hopes when our fears were more than justified by the ultraconservative records of these two men?”

“Yes,” he said.

Gee, too damn bad the intrepid reporter from al-Reuters didn’t take a bit more interest in doing their job.

If they had he/she may have asked how The Good Senator was duped considering the asshat voted NAY for Roberts confirmation and voted NAY on Alito’s confirmation.

The World Bank has issued its Worldwide Governance Indicators Report for the years 1996-2006. The report covers six dimensions of governance:

  • Voice and Accountability
  • Political Stability and Absence of Violence
  • Government Effectiveness
  • Regulatory Quality
  • Rule of Law
  • Control of Corruption

Iraq has shown marked improvement in three areas, Voice and Accountability, Regulatory Quality and Control of Corruption.

The other three indicies show declines, not wholly surprising considering the three are interconnected and any progress must be tied to the level of violence declining to a manageable level.

Interesting enough, while Iran has done everything possible to destabilize Iraq, and succeeded on many fronts the indicators show Iran has declined in all six categories since 2002.

Syria, same story, the regiem of the Myopic Optometrist has declined in all six since 2002.
