The World Bank has issued its Worldwide Governance Indicators Report for the years 1996-2006. The report covers six dimensions of governance:
- Voice and Accountability
- Political Stability and Absence of Violence
- Government Effectiveness
- Regulatory Quality
- Rule of Law
- Control of Corruption
Iraq has shown marked improvement in three areas, Voice and Accountability, Regulatory Quality and Control of Corruption.
The other three indicies show declines, not wholly surprising considering the three are interconnected and any progress must be tied to the level of violence declining to a manageable level.
Interesting enough, while Iran has done everything possible to destabilize Iraq, and succeeded on many fronts the indicators show Iran has declined in all six categories since 2002.
Syria, same story, the regiem of the Myopic Optometrist has declined in all six since 2002.
