China has already surpassed the United States as the world’s largest carbon polluter, the authors of a California study said Tuesday.
“Our best forecast has China’s CO2 (carbon dioxide) emissions correctly surpassing the United States in 2006 rather than 2020 as previously anticipated,” said the study by researchers at the University of California.
Oh gosh, does that mean all the “expert” prognosticators not only underestimated China’s ability to expand it’s economy and continue producing more power via coal fired plants than any other place in the universe, but failed to take into account America’s ever dwindling production of the same carbon pollution?
Guess it does. But hardly news for those with more than a single operating brain cell.
And they only missed it by this much; Previous estimates had set the growth rate at 2.5 to five percent. But the new information gathered indicates the forecast should’ve been at an 11 percent annual growth of carbon emissions from 2004 to 2010.
Yepper, only missed it by “that much,” a piddling factor of four plus. NITWITS!
