The media promoted alarmism, and discredited skeptics as being in the pay of big oil – while giving a free pass to Al Gore (a/k/a The Goracle), who made a movie based on an obvious lie then made millions selling carbon offsets.

Brit journalist Christopher Booker makes the claim that 2008 is the year “man-made global warming was disproved”. His three reasons are:

First, all over the world, temperatures have been dropping in a way wholly unpredicted by all those computer models which have been used as the main drivers of the scare.
[…]
Secondly, 2008 was the year when any pretence that there was a “scientific consensus” in favour of man-made global warming collapsed.
[…]
Thirdly, as banks collapsed and the global economy plunged into its worst recession for decades, harsh reality at last began to break in on those self-deluding dreams which have for so long possessed almost every politician in the western world.

While a good read Christopher Booker only hits around the edges of the AGW death sentence.

Australian scientist, and consultant to the Australian Greenhouse Office, David Evans makes a better more complete case:

From 1975 to 2001 the global temperature trended up. How do you empirically determine the cause of this global warming? It turns out we can learn a lot simply by observing where the warming occurred: each possible cause of global warming heats the atmosphere differently, heating some parts before others. The pattern of warming is the cause’s “signature”.

The signature of an increased greenhouse effect consists of two features: a hotspot about 10 km up in the atmosphere over the tropics, and a combination of broad stratospheric cooling and broad tropospheric warming. The signature of ozone depletion consists just of the second feature. These signatures are theoretically derived by the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), and are integral to our understanding of how the atmosphere works. [1]

We have been observing temperatures in the atmosphere for decades using radiosondes – weather balloons with thermometers that radio back the temperature as the balloon ascends through the atmosphere. The radiosonde measurements for 1979-1999 show broad stratospheric cooling and broad tropospheric warming, but they show no tropical hotspot. Not even a small one. [2]

Empirically, we therefore know that an increased greenhouse effect was not a significant cause of the recent global warming. (Either that or the signatures from the IPCC are wrong, so its climate models and predictions are rubbish anyway.)

Human carbon emissions were occurring at the time but the greenhouse effect did not increase. Therefore human carbon emissions did not increase the greenhouse effect, and did not cause global warming. So AGW is wrong, and carbon is innocent. Suspect exonerated – wrong signature.

Even the most simple-minded should comprehend that picture.

If the signature for the greenhouse effect includes X,Y and Z and only X and Z are present, whatever is going on isn’t the greenhouse effect.

Evans documents the machinations the warmists go through to ignore this fact, but there it is.

Evens, to my great amusement, takes The Goracle to task as well claiming he knew the new data (produced by new technology) about ice core samples and released in 2003 didn’t support his theory. So he used the old data instead.

To everyone but the enviro-whackos, that’s called a bald-faced lie.

Evans provides a timeline to demonstrate how the AGW myth gained favor with the media and general public:

Governments have spent over $50 billion on climate research since 1990, and we have not found any actual evidence for AGW. [5]

So if there is no evidence to support AGW, and the missing hotspot shows that AGW is wrong, why does most of the world still believe in AGW?

Part of the answer is that science changed direction after a large constituency of vested interests had invested in AGW. The old ice core data provided support from 1985, the IPCC was established by the UN in 1988 to look into human changes to climate, and the Kyoto Protocol was negotiated in 1997 to limit carbon emissions. By 1999 the western political class were doing something, the western media were rallying behind “saving the planet”, and scientists were being paid by governments to research the effects of human-caused global warming.

But then the evidence took science off in a different direction: the new ice core data in 2003, the missing hotspot in 2007, and the global temperature has stopped trending up since 2001 [6]. Governments, the media, and many scientists did not notice.

The remainder of the answer for the current belief in AGW is darker and more political. An offbeat theory in the 1970s, AGW was adopted by a group of about 45 atmospheric modelers and physicists. That group dominated climate science journals, peer reviewed each others papers, and hindered competing ideas by underhand methods [7]. AGW gained political support from proponents of nuclear power, and vice-president Gore appointed AGW supporters to science positions in the USA.

Damning charges to be sure, but believable to the sane among us.

The problem was exacerbated by a second one, government funding of research:

AGW grabbed control of climate funding in key western countries. Lack of diversity in science funding has been a major problem since government took over funding science in WWII. Science is like a courtroom – protagonists put forward their best cases, and out of the argument some truth emerges. But if only one side is funded and heard, then truth tends not to emerge. This happened in climate science, which is almost completely government funded and has been dominated by AGW for two decades. Skeptics are mainly scientists who are retired or who have moved on to other areas – their funding no longer depends on allegiance to AGW. The alarmists are full time, well funded, and hog the megaphone.

Evans then delves into the evidence presented as “proof” by AGW supporters and why it fails the test. However, near the end, he talks about the real problem we face.

Politics:

Among non-scientists, AGW appeals strongly to two groups. Those who support big government love the idea of carbon regulations – if you control carbon emissions then you control most human activity. And those who like to feel morally superior to the bulk of their fellow citizens by virtue of a belief (the “warm inner glow” and moral vanity of the politically correct) are firmly attached to AGW. These groups are politically adept, are planning to spend your money and tell you how to eat, travel and how to live, and they are strenuously avoiding the evidence.

Too bad science has become all about the money on both sides. I guess the belief I used to have in the scientific debate was based on a myth.

It appears that science is just a tool and where it isn’t, you can’t distinguish it from the balderdash.

Al Gore, a leader of the scientific method? How low have we stooped?

It appears as though the ObamaMessiah camp is looking to add some “substance” to the lie about Gov. Palin charging victims for police department use of rape kits.

Jonathon Martin of Politicico reports:

Barack Obama’s campaign earlier this month sought to find a rape victim to appear in a campaign commercial, according to an e-mail obtained by Politico.

Kiersten Steward, director of public policy at the Family Violence Prevention Fund, served as a conduit between the campaign and victims and women’s advocates.

“Obviously, this is a big ask and I haven’t seen a script but presumably it will be a brief ‘this is what happened to me, we need someone who will fight for women like me, these are the guys to do it,'” Steward wrote in a Sept. 15 e-mail. “Again, that’s just my assumption, given how these things
usually go.”

Steward, a former top aide to Rep. Maurice Hinchey (D-N.Y.), said the Obama campaign would have a crew in Washington and was hoping to film that week.

She didn’t respond to a message.

The Obama campaign wouldn’t detail the strategy behind finding an individual to discuss such a sensitive topic but did suggest the ad may be aimed at underscoring their candidate’s support for abortion rights and ongoing effort to retain those women who backed Hillary Clinton in the primary.

“Choice is an important issue, and we’re going to continue talking about it in battleground states through the election,” said spokesman Bill Burton.

I guess the hacks at the wheel of the Messiah’s campaign haven’t read the email that thoroughly debunks the Palin myth.

Not that it matters much to these asswipes, but I do have one question for them: Why an Alaskan victim?

Shouldn’t any rape victims coerced asked to participate in this type ad carry more weight with the public if she was a resident in one of the battleground states?

The anti-Palin lunatics know no bounds – really. A bar owner in Chicago paints a nude picture of Sarah Palin using his daughter as the model.

The four-foot-tall oil painting depicts the current governor of Alaska standing atop a polar bear-skin rug in her living room, nude, except for a pair of red stiletto heels and her trademark eyeglasses. In the picture she leans on an automatic rifle while beaming a megawatt smile. Behind her, a window looks out onto a pristine Alaska landscape, complete with a moose that has just ambled into the frame.

“It’s been very successful,” Elliott said, “Generally what I do is sex, but I think I’m going to do a little more politics.”

“My daughter is a heck of a stand-in for Sarah Palin. She can even do the voice,” he said.

In the least shocking statement of the day, Elliott said he’s “pulling for Barack Obama in the election.”

Frankly “Mr.” Elliott, looking at the image of your daughter she’s at least 50% heavier than Palin in the weight department, that’s some stand-in. When asked what it was like posing nude before her father Grace “proudly informs” onlookers, “He changed my diapers,” she said with a shrug. “Think about it like that.”

You’re both a couple partisan lunatics, who would go bat-shit crazy if someone did the same to Rep. Pelosi, think about it like that!

In a way I shouldn’t give one wit what an asshatted writer like Gore Vidal thinks or writes about, he’s long been a thorn in the side of common sense and reason, but, sometimes you just gotta laugh at some of the shit this guy brings to the table.

It will take the the United States a century to recover from the damage wreaked by President George W Bush, US writer Gore Vidal said in an interview published today.

“The president behaved like a virtual criminal but we didn’t have the courage to sack him for fear of violating the American constitution,” Mr Vidal told the El Mundo newspaper.

The author, a trenchant critic of the US-led invasion of Iraq, said it would take the United States 100 years to repair the damage caused by Bush.

“We live in a dictatorship. We have a fascist government …which controls the media,” he said.

Got that? This nitwit makes the claim Bush hasn’t been impeached because to OH SOOOO far left loons in Congress didn’t want to violate the Constitution to do so.

So obviously he would support what amounts to a “fascist government” as long as it impeached the president. Fuck the Constitution in that case!

Would you be surprised to learn Gore thinks The ObamaMessiah is the smartest thing to come on the scene since, well, I don’t know when since. He just is, at least according to this asshat.

Not only that he thinks Sen. McCain’s Vietnam war history is a figment of the Senators imagination:

Asked what he thinks of McCain, Vidal calls him a “disaster,” then tells Deborah Solomon, “Who started this rumor that he was a war hero? Where does that come from, aside from himself? About his suffering in the prison war camp?”

Solomon replies: “Everyone knows he was a prisoner of war in North Vietnam.” To which Vidal responds: “That’s what he tells us.”

Does this guy, at the age of 82 still have a working brain cell?Related articles

I thought I’d seen all the disrespect and general all ’round asshattary from the ObamaMessiah and his sycophantic lemmings. But, I was wrong, they’ve taken to showing their utter contempt for fallen heros:

Portland police officers have asked for an apology after they said organizers of a Barack Obama rally set up Porta-Potties on a memorial honoring fallen officers.

Earlier this month, 75,000 people gathered in Waterfront Park in downtown Portland to hear Obama speak at a pre-primary rally. Officer Thomas Brennan, a seven-year veteran with the Portland Police Bureau, said he was happy to help at the rally after being called in on his day off.

“On short notice, a lot of people had to cancel trips. But they were glad to do it,” Brennan said. “It was very memorable, in more ways than one.”

Brennan, who controlled the crowd near the Portland Police Memorial, noticed several Porta Potties set up in the middle of the memorial. Brennan had been at the site five days earlier for an annual memorial service and a flag was still set at half mast on the day of the rally.

“There was plenty of room elsewhere so space wasn’t an issue,” Brennan said. “So someone used some really poor decision making, whoever elected to put them there. I mean, it’s somewhat hallowed ground, I guess you could call it.”

After several days, Brennan attached a photo he took to a letter and e-mailed it to dozens of media outlets and the Obama campaign.

Brennan said officers haven’t heard back from the Obama campaign. He said someone owes an apology to the families of the fallen officers.

“Not for a moment do I think that Mr. Obama had anything to do with this,” Brennan said. “But somebody at his campaign at a local level made the decision to put them there. And I just want an acknowledgement: ‘Hey, we made a mistake.'”

A representative with the Obama campaign responded Wednesday morning and said the Porta-Potties were placed at the memorial because of a safety issue for wheelchair access.

Wheelchair access.

Pretty hard to argue with that excuse.

And a very convenient one as well. I have one question though; If their location was chosen for easy handicapped access, was ObamaMessiah seen in line to use the facilities?

Or, were they only for the physically handicapped and not those with mental handicaps like the appeasement monkey ObamaMessiah?Related articles

From the Wit (mostly wit – ed) & Wisdom Files comes this from the senior New York Senator Chuck Schumer and heard during the recent “big oil” dog and pony show on Capital Hill.

claimed “if [Saudi Arabia] did a million barrels of oil a day increase from today, it would go down about — the translation to gasoline would be about $.50 a gallon, maybe $.62.”

As Newsbusters notes it was just a couple weeks ago Schumer claimed a likely similar increase from drilling in ANWR would “reduce the price of oil by a penny.”

Obviously this old war horse of a Senator needs a new abacus. Or a swift kick in the ass on his way out of the Senate chambers. Permanently.

“There’s no one I would rather be on a ticket with than John McCain,” the former Arkansas governor said on NBC’s “Meet the Press.”

Asshat“Let me point out that all during the campaign, when I was his rival, not a running mate, there was no one who was more complimentary of him publicly and privately,” he said.

Your “Huckboom” went bust Huckabee if you think dragging out some spurious fact on how kind you were will get you anything more than a headline or two your as NUTS as those that thought you had a chance to be anything but county dog catcher.

“I want to make sure you know [McCain] was my number two choice. I still wanted to win, but if I couldn’t, John McCain, from always, was the guy I would’ve supported and have now supported,” Huckabee said.

And now we know how the former governor lost 100 pounds, by dumping loads of bullshit like this.

If being an empty suit, save for far too many prayers tucked into his pockets, isn’t enough to disqualify him from any office, his so called “benign joke” does: “That was Barack Obama. He just tripped off a chair. He’s getting ready to speak and somebody aimed a gun at him, and he dove for the floor.”

This asshole needs to sit down and STFU.
